Celebrating exam sucess across the group!

Year 11 leavers across Kedleston Group have been celebrating their exam successes which saw them achieve a fantastic average of more than six qualifications each – with more than 550 achieved across the Group.

The young people achieved a diverse range of formal qualifications including GCSEs across a variety of academic and vocational subjects.

There were successes in GCSEs, Functional Skills and Entry Levels in Mathematics, English and Science. Students also gained awards, including BTECs, in a wide range of different subjects including Business Studies, Statistics, PE, Sport & Leisure, History, Art and Design. Photography and Construction.

These successes and qualifications have seen leavers go on to further education, apprenticeships or employment including mainstream colleges.

There were standout individual performances too including at Wings School Cumbria where two young people demonstrated spectacular achievements with nine GCSEs and 10 GCSEs each. At Arc Oakbridge School the Year 11 students undertaking exams had all, prior to coming to the school, been out of education. All have now left with qualifications.

Lee Reed, Chief Operating Officer at Kedleston Group, said:

“For many of the young people across Kedleston, learning and education has not always been the easiest of journeys. The majority of the children we support have had extremely disrupted educational lives, with some, before they came to a Kedleston school, wrongly told they were unlikely to ever achieve any qualifications.

“These wonderful results are a true testament to the hard work, resilience and determination they have shown and also to the belief we have in every one of our young people. We have high aspirations for them and these results form a firm ground on which to build their future successes.”

Supporting children with additional needs to achieve exam success

Kedleston operates schools which provide educational settings for young people with autism and social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Many of the students supported by the schools have experienced significant challenges during their education and in many cases, have been out of education for months or years before coming to a Kedleston school.

The schools are focused on helping young people achieve the skills they need to succeed when they leave school, getting them ready for further education and the workplace.
