Deputy House Manager - Residential School


Disley, Stockport



High Peak School is a residential school providing 52 week provision for young people aged 9 to 17 years with social, emotional and behavioral difficulties and we are looking for an experienced, caring, compassionate and motivated individual to join our team as a Deputy House Manager. It is essential that Deputy House Managers are confident and experienced in leading and developing a team of staff and in managing challenging behavior; as well as developing positive relationships with young people.

Main Roles and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

  • Support the House Manager in the effective running of the home
  • Ensure a high standard of care and support is available to each child when on duty and that all child care practices in place meet the requirements of current legislation and the expectations of the inspecting regulatory bodies.
  • Promote and ensure the general health, safety and welfare of the staff and children and ensure adherence to High Peak Ltd Health and Safety Policy
  • Maintain appropriate liaisons with parents / guardians and outside agencies and attend statutory looked after reviews providing accurate information on the young person
  • Take a full and active role in the induction, supervision, training and performance management of the care staff which you hold responsibility for, and in particular work with other senior staff in promoting safe practices in positive handling

Person Specification (Essential):

  • Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce Level 3 or NVQ Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) Level 3 and be willing to work towards Level 5 Diploma following probation
  • 3 years’ experience working with children and young people in the last 3 years
  • Team leader experience in a relevant setting
  • Involvement in Ofsted inspections
