Pupils at our specialist school in London have been celebrating their recent exam results.
The pupils, from Leaways School London, achieved qualifications including Functional Skills and GCSEs in subjects including Maths and English. 100% of leavers will go on to further education, employment or training. Some students at the school achieved more than five formal qualifications each.
Leaways, a day school in Clapton, Hackney, provides education and care for children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and also has a specialist unit supporting children with an autism spectrum condition.
Across the school students undertook a range of qualifications including history, maths and English.
Head Teacher Richard Gadd said: "At Leaways we support young people who have struggled to achieve in mainstream settings as they were unable to meet their individual learning needs. Many of those young people have experienced disrupted educational careers as a result.
“For these children, sitting any sort of formal examination or working towards a qualification can be a challenge. However, we’re extremely proud to say these are challenges they have risen to again this year which has seen them all achieve college, training or work placements.
“These achievements and qualifications will give the young people a solid foundation to build their futures. They have all done extremely well.”
The school is part of the Kedleston Group which has a range of residential and day schools across the UK. Across the company’s seven secondary schools, pupils achieved a range of qualifications with hundreds of achievements recorded for students across more than 90 different qualifications on offer.
