Year 10 students from Wings Cumbria have been to the Butterfly House at Williamson's Park in Lancaster. It is part of their Art classes looking at the work of Georgia O'Keeffe who was best known for her painting of 'enlarged' flowers, New York Sky Scrapers and New Mexico Landscapes.
The plan is to use the animals and insects they have seen as references for creating pictures using the 'Batik' technique
Georgia O’Keefe was an American artist who started her work in the early part of the 20th century. She is often referred to as the ‘Mother of American Modernism’. In 2014, 28 years after her death, one of her pictures was sold for $44.4 million, the highest price for a female artist.
