It’s very important to Wings School that our young people are involved in the decision making of topics that they feel are important to them. The first School Council of the 2019 academic term took place recently with important topics discussed such as:
- Uniform – it was decided our young people like wearing a uniform to school, however they would like to upgrade the blazers, and possibly change the colour of the school ties.
- School Lunches – the focus is ‘healthy balanced lunches and clean plates!’ A survey is to go out to each pupil, this will cover likes/dislikes, favourite foods, if they could change anything about school lunches what would it be? Is there anything ‘new’ they would like to see on the school menu?
- Land Based Learning – we would like to extend the farm at Wings to buy more chickens. The money raised from the sale of eggs will be donated to ‘Derian House Childrens Hospice’. We have had a bumper crop of vegetables from our garden that have been sold to staff and visitors in school, this money will also go to Derian House.
- Equality & Diversity – it was agreed we would like to host a McMillian Coffee Morning to raise funds for Cancer Care.
- Head Boy / Head Girl & Deputy’s – a date has been agreed when we will hold the election.
- School Council Posters – these are to go up around school, ‘Get your voice heard!’, come and speak to a school council representative or join the next meeting in October!
