Hours – 8.00 – 3.30 (flexible) Monday to Friday (term time only + 1 week)
Salary - £17,000 - £19,000 pro-rata (actual salary £15,038 - £16,807)

Arc School Napton is looking for a chef to join our small and friendly team as soon as possible.
You will have experience in a food environment and will carry relevant qualifications in catering for a school kitchen. All staff are expected to interact with the young people in a caring and professional manner. The role will possibly include some cookery and nutrition teaching under direction of a qualified teacher for our pupils and any applicant will need to show willingness to work with the young people beyond the basic role of a school cook.
You will plan, prepare, cook and serve food to meet the cultural needs and interests of the young people, staff, parents and visitors including breakfast and lunch. Catering for special or one off events, e.g. summer graduation, will also form part of your role.
You will be responsible for kitchen health and safety, adhering to food hygiene practice at all times, managing kitchen equipment and reporting maintenance issues should they arise. You will also ensure that all statutory requirements for Ofsted and Local Authority Hygiene inspections are met.
Skills & experience:
- Current food hygiene certificate with up to date knowledge and understanding of food hygiene requirements
- Experience of catering for large groups producing healthy meals on time and to a budget
- Ability to design quality menus with the input of the pupil ambassadors
- Ability to monitor costs and work within a budget
- Ability to work to a high standard with minimal supervision on a day to day basis
- A strong understanding and knowledge of record keeping which will ensure that the school canteen retains its 5 star rating
We are an independent school which specialises in SEMH and ASC and our young people can be challenging in their behaviour. You will complete Team teach training in order to support the behaviour management of pupils attending the school.
