Description of Role:
To undertake work/care/support programmes to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.
To work under the instruction/guidance of teaching staff to support the delivery of quality learning and teaching and to help raise standards of achievement for all pupils.
To be an advocate for the school ethos of A*spiration, Resilience and C*ourage, seeing and demonstrating its use as paramount to the success of our young people.
Duties and Responsibilities Specific to the Post:
(a) Working in classrooms with individuals / groups of pupils under the direct supervision of a Teacher.
(b) Assisting the Teacher in preparing and delivering lessons.
(c) Assisting in the production of a stimulating learning environment in the classrooms and other areas of the School.
(d) Assisting with educational visits and trips.
(e) Ensuring resources are used properly and safely and that they are stored in appropriate ways.
(f) Reporting faults and repairs required as necessary.
(g) Providing and assisting in a programme of activities.
(a) Providing levels of care and support appropriate to the general needs of the children and those as outlined in their Statements of Special Educational Needs and their Care Plans.
(b) Maintaining good order and discipline among the children through following Arc Oakbridge School’s Management of Behaviour Policy’ and safeguarding their health and safety.
(c) Establishing appropriate professional relationships with the children.
(d) Displaying levels of personal behaviour which will provide an appropriate model for the children.
- Break and Lunch Supervision
Participating in the supervision of the children at break and lunch times in line with the School rota.
Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports and reviews relating to individual children or groups of children.
(a) Participating in arrangements for your Induction, supervision, training and development.
- Undertaking qualifications deemed necessary by the Head Teacher/Deputy Head Teacher to fulfil the requirements of the post.
- Reviewing your won methods of care and support.
- Participating in the safeguarding of all the children and ensuring that Arc Oakbridge’s Child Protection Policy is adhered to.
Participating in your own performance management arrangements and those of others, as appropriate.
Taking over the duties of a Teaching Assistant who is absent.
(a) Participating in administrative and organisational tasks related to the above duties.
(b) Attending meetings of staff and pupils.
Participating in the transporting of the children as a driver and / or escort on educational visits/home visits and trips.
