There has been lots happening at Old Arley in Warwickshire over the past week -
A mobile Pizza Oven to come to the school on Friday as part of the 100% attendance rewards. Feedback from students was exceptionally positive – even better than the ice cream van!
A year 9 delivered training to staff on Monday evening on what it is like living with autism, entitled ‘Welcome to My World.’ They were able to share what it is like to live with high levels of anxiety and how this affects life on a daily basis, particularly in social situations. Since joining us in February this student's personal and social development has been outstanding. When they requested to lead training for staff at school we were delighted to support this. They presented this in such a mature and confident manner, managing her anxieties exceptionally well. The training session had a significant impact on our understanding of ASC and how to manage anxiety-related behaviour more effectively. We are exceptionally proud and are now taking bookings to take the training on tour!
The Duke of Edinburgh final assessment expedition took place on Thursday and Friday. All students did exceptionally well, even in the tropical temperatures! We are awaiting confirmation that all students have successfully completed their bronze award.
