A warm welcome to Brookways School, and I hope you find our website informative and useful. Brookways has been open since 2018, and in our short lifespan, it has seen rapid development from our initial single student to our capacity of 80. Our great cohort of students are aided through their EHC plans by a dedicated and ever learning staff group, who put the children first whilst also understanding that all children need a clear process to navigate the life in front of them.
The school offers a personalised curriculum plan, based around the needs of the individual, while teaching the value of collaboration, social interaction and empathy for those around us. From entry into the school, our skilled and knowledgeable staff work towards giving each student the opportunity to hone the social, academic and independence skills to give them the greatest chance of success beyond the school gates into adulthood. We are very proud that our leavers achieve increasingly extensive and higher-grade results in their relevant and appropriate qualification routes. This, in turn, allows a greater choice of destinations for each individual.
The school has a range of therapeutic interventions through an on-site, school-managed therapy team. The school's therapy lead is embedded as a key senior leader in the school who contributes to school policy and process, thus creating a cohesive approach to therapy, teaching and learning.
There is a great belief that our students benefit from our extensive programme of ‘out of school’ experiences with educational and social trips written into the curriculum, leading to the opportunity for students to attend residential ‘educational holidays’ to country and seaside activity centres. This has now led to excursions into other European countries, including Germany and Italy.
We are very proud of our students and our school, and this makes us all the more determined to keep developing our provision and curriculum offer, to ensure genuine social and academic success for all.

Education
The school runs an educational programme in line with the national curriculum. There are opportunities for students to take SATs in year 6, and the school offers BTEC from year 9, Functional Skills and GCSE from year 10 onwards. The school baselines all students on arrival to establish a learning pathway and to trigger any interventions that are required to accelerate learning. The school is very proud of its personalised reading programme, Time2Read, which happens every day in streamed groups. We have seen rapid improvements in reading across the school cohort since its inception in 2024.
Students are monitored throughout their time at the school and where it is clear or felt that there is a learning concern, interventions are placed through a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) referral process.

The school has a full-time, school-based therapy provision that offers a range of interventions accessed through a tiered model of therapy provision, ensuring that every child receives the right level of support at the right time. This approach allows us to deliver whole-school strategies, small group interventions and individualised therapy, tailored to each pupil’s specific needs.
Our therapy lead has extensive experience in both the educational sector and clinical settings. The school offers OT and SaLT support to all students in the school through a timetabled programme within each class setting. Where specific individual interventions are required, therapists facilitate these sessions and are then supported by the school's group of therapy assistants to ensure that progress is maintained.
