Pupils at our specialist school near Stockport have been celebrating their recent exam results.
High Peak School, in Disley, is a residential school that provides education and care for children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. It also offers day placements.
Students at the school achieved on average of four qualifications each, including GCSEs in Maths, English and Photography. Other qualifications achieved by students included Equine Studies, Arts Award, Home Cooking Skills, Science Open Awards and Foundation Studies in ICT.
Across the school, Year 10 and 11 pupils sat a number of exams including English, Maths, ICT and Art at GCSE Foundation Study levels. All young people were entered for Functional Skills in Maths and English and students had good success in both.
These achievements have helped students gain placements on a range of college courses including drama and music and apprenticeships in window and door fitting, carpentry and others.
Principal at the school, David Glaves, said: "Our young people have worked incredibly hard this year and we’re extremely proud of them all. Their achievements are testament to this hard work and on-going determination and will be the foundation on which they can build their future success in the fields they choose.
“It is the role of our school to develop curricula which meet the individual needs of our students, nurturing their talents and skills. To do this we offer a wide range of subjects alongside the more traditional options.”
High Peak School is part of the Kedleston Group. Kedleston has a range of residential and day schools across the UK. Pupils from Olsen House School in Liverpool, Wings School Cumbria, Wings School Nottingham, Arc Schools Ansley and Old Arley in Warwickshire, and Leaways School in London all sat a range of examinations in a range of more than 100 subjects on offer.
