Children’s Home Receives “Good” Rating from Regulator

Lancashire Children’s Home Heysham House has been rated as “Good” in its latest inspection by regulator Ofsted.

Inspectors found the home, part of the Kedleston Group, to be a safe and very homely environment where children make progress.

Heysham House supports young people with social and emotional difficulties and those who may be vulnerable due to their complex needs.

The report noted that the registered manager is “committed to improving the lives of young people” and leads a team whose members are “motivated and passionate in the support they provide to children”. Relationships between the children and staff were found to be “sincere and positive”.

Inspectors also noted that young people at Heysham House attend school and educational placements regularly and are making progress. They were, it said, also encouraged and supported to seek opportunities outside of the home including work experience and being supported in applying and interviewing for part-time employment.

The range of activities children were encouraged to take part in was also noted positively within the report.

Kimberley Taylor, Care Quality Assurance and Development Lead at Kedleston Group, said: We welcome this report from Ofsted and the findings they have noted following their visit to Heysham House. We aim to provide the very best care and support for the young people who live here and to give them the very best experience possible.”

Fun Activities at Heysham House

Heysham House in Lancashire is a five bed, Ofsted registered children’s home providing care and support for young people aged 12 to 17 years who have social, emotional and behavioural problems and associated mental health difficulties.

The young people who live there get the opportunity throughout the week, and weekends to take part in a range of fun activities away from the home. This supports developing a range of skills such as social communication, team building and develops self-confidence and self-esteem.

Everything sounds like a lot of fun too! Love the 'We do Disney' poem too........

Summer Fun at Heysham House

Our days schools may be quiet at this time of year, but our homes are very busy with the young people getting the opportunity to take part in lots of fun activities and trips out.

The young people at Heysham House, Lancashire have be out bowling and to the local cinema.

They have had a holiday in sunny Scarborough, and made a visit to the Morecambe Carnival.

Blackpool was another day trip destination, where the staff and young people took a walk on the promenade and went to the fair.

It’s also been busy back at the home where the young people have been rolling their sleeves up and getting into redecorating their rooms - we look forward to see how they look when they are finished!

Sounds like a lot of fun indeed.
