The music studio at Leaways London has been relaunched and is a great place to celebrate pupils' creative talents.
The focus of music is on live performance and the studio is equipped with drums and percussion, acoustic and electric guitars, performance microphones and keyboards. The area is also a place to develop collaborative and listening skills.
staff at the school are taking great pleasure in seeing students working together in small groups to create their own improvised sounds; some have surprised themselves with their own undiscovered musical abilities. Groups of students, within and across tutor groups, are working towards performing at a talent show in the summer term where they will showcase their achievements.
The school is also exploring the possibility of running RSL Vocational Qualifications in Music Performance from September. These have been specifically designed to allow centres to build qualifications that meet the aspirations of each individual student from a set of core and optional units, enabling us to create a personalised pathway.
The school is also pleased to announce that Jason, Year 11, has been successful in his application for a music performance course at BCE (Big Creative Education) has an offer for a place starting in September.
