Reaching new heights at Oakbridge!

The staff and young people from our Arc Oakbridge School took a trip yesterday to Redpoint Climbing Centre in Birmingham and had a fantastic time!

Climbing is a brilliant way to help develop a young person’s coordination and motor skills, build confidence and self-esteem and also increase problem solving, planning and decision making abilities.

It is also great fun too!!

Teaching the staff a thing or two!

Last week, one of the young people at our Arc Oakbridge School in Birmingham became the teacher for the day.

He decided to teach the staff all about one of his favourite subjects, pigeons. He did such a fantastic job, let’s just hope those teaching staff behaved themselves!!

There has also been cake decorating for 'Wear it Pink' day - the cakes were then sold to raise money as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Fantastic Feedback for Arc Oakbridge

Arc Oakbridge School welcomes in its first student who sounds like they are having a fantastic transition into the school. We have already received some wonderful feedback from mum, and wanted to share it with you.

We have a Parents Coffee morning coming up on the 25th October from 9:30am – 11:00am, it would be lovely to see you there…..

“We met with the head teacher Phil before even seeing the school and that's when I knew this was going to be the right place, his compassion and dedication shone through.”

“Walking in the door is when I knew I had done the right thing. You totally forget where you are. The school is small and ideal for children on the autistic spectrum and they even have a dog called Edie, who is always happy to greet visitors and loves a fuss”

“On the first day of my son's transition he went out to the outdoor area with Edie the dog and ran around, he looked like he didn't have a care in the world! I couldn't be happier with the setting and neither could my son.”

“I would highly recommend this school, in fact I have already have and will continue to do so.”

World Food Day at Arc Oakbridge

Today is World Food Day 2018.

World Food Day commemorates the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945. Events are organized in over 150 countries across the world, making it one of the most celebrated days of the UN calendar. These events promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all.

It’s also a day to celebrate the progress that has already made towards reaching #ZeroHunger.

Today the school Chef Vikki at Arc Oakbridge School has put on a selection of food from around the world, including Germany, Italy, India, Greece, America, Japan, Morocco and Russia for the staff and young people to learn about new tastes, flavours and cultures.

The builders are currently working hard on getting our new Arc Oakbridge School ready for opening as soon as possible. So in the meantime we thought you may like to have a look around by means of some 3D artwork we have had designed.

This 3D interpretation gives a clear insight into the overall layout of the school, a few of the classrooms, the reflection room and the dining room.

Classroom size and layout, room colours and lighting schemes have been carefully thought about in order to best support the needs of young people with an Autistic Spectrum Condition.

We are taking referrals now for placements starting in the Autumn Term 2018 so please contact for more information -
