Whitechapel Centre shoebox appeal
Pupils and staff from Olsen House School went into Crosby village to buy items for the Christmas shoeboxes to donate to the Whitechapel Centre, Liverpool. This is a tradition the school carries out every year.
Gloves, hats, thick socks, wind up torches and other necessities were bought by the pupils, and a few of the local businesses kindly donated some items free of charge.
We also met and chatted to other local people in the shops who were also filling shoeboxes for the homeless. They asked us about our school and commended our pupils for being so thoughtful. We suggested they could drop their finished boxes into school and we would take them into the Whitechapel Centre on their behalf. They were very grateful and we got to take another two boxes to add to our four.
The pupils delivering the boxes were very well behaved and were a credit to the school.
