Wings School Cumbria offers an assessment followed by a gradual transition for children and young people in to school life and their new residential setting.  Where children or young people have initial difficulties in settling in to a learning environment, lessons can be delivered within the residential areas until they are ready.

The school provides a broad curriculum which includes national curriculum subjects such as maths, English, science, PSE, History, RE, geography, design technology, art, food technology, physical education, ICT, land based studies photography and music. In addition to formal timetabled lessons KS4 pupils are provided with careers and college guidance, social and economic skills and work experience to prepare them for adult life.  We work in partnership with transition teams and local authorities to provide a planned transition to life and work after school for all young people.
