The young people from Hawk house at Wings School Notts have been spending their Sundays exploring different local RAF bases. This week they visited RAF Digby, they took metal detectors with them to see what they could find.
When looking around the grounds of RAF Digby they came across some bunkers used in the war to shelter gun men. Around these bunkers they used the metal detectors and found some shot gun shells.
As they looked further around the bunkers and grounds of RAF Digby they came across an old 80’s motorbike, they took time to look at the bike and see how they differ from the motorbikes we see today. The young people loved learning about the history of the RAF base and seeing what they could find.
Many more trips with the metal detectors will be planned, getting the young people engaged whilst learning about the history that surrounds Wings School Notts.
