The curriculum is designed to meet the individual needs of each young person so they have the opportunity to meet their full potential, in an environment which is both therapeutic and supportive.

Teaching is delivered in small groups of no more than 6 children and young people at any one time, creating calm low arousal learning environments. Teaching staff deliver a personalised curriculum for every child, each young person is allocated a keyworker who looks after their personal and emotional well-being. This means that any necessary adaptations can be made to the curriculum in order to meet their needs as they grow in the school.

Children and young people follow the national curriculum and take examinations at GCSE and Entry Level as well as BTEC, Arts Award and Functional Skills Qualifications. Further education college placements and work experience are offered at Key Stage 4 in order to prepare the young people for adult life. All young people move onto college or a work placements when leaving the school.

Specialist teacher’s work closely with our pastoral and experienced clinical team to provide the best assessment, interventions and support for every child and young person.

At Arc School Ansley we use Sleuth to analyse and record behaviour and development of our pupils. This software sits alongside our own assessment framework that can measure the progress of our pupils in relation to the essential skills.
