Congratulations to all those awarded 'Employee of the Month' for March 2020
Wings School Cumbria
Paul Singleton
Paul is one of those members of staff that every school needs; he quietly gets on with “stuff”; he is liked by staff and children equally and works tirelessly to help our children achieve some amazing work, often in not so “amazing” weather conditions.
His contribution to outdoor education is outstanding; encouraging pupils to achieve the John Muir Award; to take part in Forest Schools activities, as well as Scouting. He has been a huge part of the planning and building of the charcoal burners cottage as well as revitalising the vegetable garden; all looking just fabulous.
It is for all this that we are delighted to award him the employee of the month for March.

Arc Oakbridge School
Sinead Ryszka
Sinead is a bundle of energy and positivity for whom no task is too daunting and the progress and wellbeing of the students always comes first. She has been instrumental in helping new students transition into the school, while also making a significant contribution to the remote learning processes that are now in place. Above all else, Sinead is a great team member and colleague, and is always willing to find solutions to challenges.
Olsen House School
Karen Horrocks
Karen gives continuous selfless service to the young people who attend our school, to the staff who work with them, and to the wider Kedleston Group. Any attempt to define Karen by what she does, does not do justice to the range of her work, the quality of her work, her integrity, her commitment, and the love she gives and understanding she has for all who work here at Olsen House. Thank you Karen.
Brookways School
This month I have three who have to share the top spot. Andy our chef who has queued relentlessly in Sainsburys for hours and created bespoke food parcels with favourites for fussy eaters; Emily Kinsell who has created Brookways resources for everyone at Brookways to use and created a video of all the staff sending Easter/missing you messages and finally Sean Robinson who led the TA team to build a data base of the myriad of resources to help teachers plan the distance learning for their students. All three of these staff have gone way above and beyond and we are all SO grateful to them
Leaways School
Kim Matthews
For always going the extra mile for staff and pupils.
Heysham House
Karen Tomlinson
She has been the target of some negative behaviours within the home and has continued to attend daily with a positive and caring attitude and has gone above and beyond working extra hours to cover the shortfall on the rota.
Wood Grove
Julija Zubrickiene
Julija has taken a lead on progressing all admin related duties for the home, working hard to get us ready for audits, ensuring LAC reports are completed and that we can evidence everything we do for the authorities. She has supported with setting up interviews for new staff and inducting, encouraging and mentoring new team members using MS Teams and also helping out with supervisions. Despite being heavily pregnant she has also worked through the night to help prepare for an Ofsted inspection. She has been hugely supportive during a very difficult time for the home when there have been several absences and changes of staff.
Kedleston Support Office
Maria Pieroni
Covid-19 has had a significant impact on all of the corporate team over the last 8 weeks in terms of ensuring the schools and homes have been and continue to be supported with professional advice across the full spectrum of responsibilities and that our overall response has been communicated effectively and efficiently to all our internal and external stakeholders. One of the busiest people has been Maria Pieroni (Group Head of HR) who has been working tirelessly to ensure that the avalanche of HR related issues that arose as a consequence of the Governments response to Covid-19 specifically to education and care have been answered and systems, policies and processes have been put in place to ensure that guidance has been interpreted appropriately and implemented in such a way to ensure that all staff have been supported in accordance with Government expectations. This has been undertaken alongside her leadership of the Group HR function and her normal day today duties
