Here at the Kedleston Group we are always looking for ways to offer continued professional development to our amazing staff teams.
Our innovative, independent, specialist residential schools, day schools and children's homes across England help young people to thrive, flourish and reach their full academic and personal potential. We support young people living with social, emotional and mental health challenges, autism and specific learning difficulties which may affect their behaviour.
We are proud to run a series of specific development days throughout the year which focus on a range of topics across education, care and clinical/therapeutic and are facilitated by experts within that field.
Last week we ran one of these days for a group of our Kedleston Leaders and the topic was Art Teaching in Special Educational Needs. It was really great day and the brilliant facilitator, Kathryn Hitchings was able to explore many topics such art materials, therapy approaches, art residencies, assessments, qualifications, the Arts Mark & Arts Award to name a few!
Art can have amazing benefits for both mental and physical health and can be used as a way to help children and young people tap into their inner thoughts, feelings and experiences through creative expression.
This session has now equipped our leaders with further skills and knowledge to develop their current practice and techniques within their schools. We look forward to seeing how this practice can benefit our children and young people and will share any updates with you!
