High Peak school is delighted to announce it can welcome an additional 30 local children after successfully applying to increase the numbers of young people on roll.
The school has seen demand for places increase across its day provision and, following a multi-million-pound refurbishment programme completed in 2022, the school applied to the Department of Education to increase the school’s capacity from 60 children to 90.
The school, in Higher Disley on the border of Cheshire East and the Peak District,
is part of Kedleston Group and supports children and young people with special educational needs such as autism and ADHD.
As well as specialist facilities and staff, the school offers small class sizes and protected quiet learning zones. It offers day school placements for children aged between seven and 16, across Key Stages 2, 3 and 4.
Its recent £6m renovation programme included the creation of a bespoke sports centre and outdoor sports court along with performing and expressive arts spaces and new science, food technology and arts classrooms. A dedicated outdoor learning provision was also created.
Head Teacher Rachel Boylan said: “We’re delighted that after successfully applying to increase our capacity, we are able to offer additional places to local children here at High Peak.
“While our school will grow, it will still be a very small, nurturing environment where the team can offer a really individualised curriculum, support and learning opportunities which meet the individual needs of our pupils.”
