Ryan who attends our Arc Oakbridge School has been in and out of hospital for the past 5 years. Over these years he has had access to toys, a play specialist and a play centre to help distract him and make his stay in Birmingham Children’s Hospital, like all the other poorly children there, more comfortable.
For the past week Ryan has been admitted to hospital. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, things have changed. The children can only have 1 visitor, which means Ryan hasn’t been able to see his Dad, Sister, Nan, friends etc. The beds are spaced out so he and the other children are not really having any interaction with each other.
The play centres, toys and play specialist services are now no longer available, but luckily the hospital does have a couple of amazing Xbox consoles for the children can use. They have been a god send for Ryan, it’s been a welcomed distraction for him, he can watch YouTube and play games with his friends online and this has distracted him from his medical procedures and has passed the long days away for him.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital have a limited amount of these Xbox’s available and Ryan has decided that he would like to raise money to help other children have a more comfortable stay in hospital.
He is asking people if they can kindly donate some money so we can put the money towards one of these machines.Whether it's just £1 or more he will be grateful for what ever amount you can donate. .....
