Pet Therapy
Our fantastic Occupational Therapist, Kaye Crossley who is based at High Peak School, Cheshire uses many different techniques and strategies in order to connect and engage with the young people she is supports.
Listen to her talk about her recent successes with a young person, where she introduced her pet dog into the therapeutic approach. She talks us through the benefits of animal therapy and how it can make an amazing difference to a young person in 4 main areas; cognition and learning, physical, emotional and finally social.
This case study is about a young person at the school with a diagnosis of autism and high levels of anxiety. Following many failed placements, he had become school phobic and was even struggling to leave the house. With the interventions put in place by Kaye, with the help of Fozzy the dog, he is now able to attend and and flourish at school.
Really interesting. Thanks Kaye and Fozzy!
