The team at Hawley Woods School, based in Camberley, were thrilled to say ‘hello’ to the first group of pupils and share everything the newly refurbished school has to offer.
The school can support up to 90 young people in small classes of no more than six pupils, in an environment specially designed to meet the learning needs of children with an autism spectrum condition. The school offers places for children aged seven to 17 across Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and for whom mainstream schools have not been able to meet their needs.
Headteacher Hannah Stroud said: “We have been delighted to welcome the first pupils to our wonderful new school. As a school we can help children those who have an EHCP, who may be struggling to keep up with the pace of work, may be losing confidence, or struggling with the overwhelming sensory environment of their mainstream school.
“We can support children who have been out of education for a period of time, helping them to positively re-engage in education and fall in love with learning.
“Hawley Woods is truly a beautiful school with wonderful facilities and a nurturing approach. We’re very much looking forward to welcoming more pupils over the coming weeks and months and are excited to be a positive part of their educational journey.”
As well as its carefully designed low sensory arousal learning spaces, Hawley Woods also offers extensive outdoor spaces. The school is supported by a clinical team including an on-site speech and language therapist and occupational therapist.
