The children attended school as normal in the morning and, in the afternoon, went out during their life skills session to buy equipment, food and anything else they have might needed to camp for one night at the school.
Once they got their tents set up, they played games, had a BBQ, played more games, had a nerf gun war (which was amazing), sat around the campfire toasting marshmallows and making s’mores and then "slept" under the canopy.
We say “slept” in the loosest sense of the word…as everyone was up at 4:30 making breakfast!
It was a fun and successful adventure, and everyone enjoyed having the chance to try something new.
Camping allows the children to develop a in number of ways by learning survival skills, practicing meal planning and cooking, trying new games and activities, developing communication skills and building friendships, increasing resilience and gives much needed time away from screens in order to connect with nature and one another.
Well done to everyone who took part.
