Arc School Old Arley held a mock local election last Thursday and the children took part in activities to find out about their local councillors and the British political parties during tutor times throughout the week.
All children were invited to cast their ballot on the Thursday to coincide with the UK local/mayoral elections. There was a spread of votes across the 5 main local parties standing in Old Arley, although Reform UK just about came out on top. There was also a number of the children that "spoiled" their paper; indicating that none of the major parties represent their values and opinions.
There's been some fantastic conversations from the children expressing their beliefs and opinions and also exploring how different political parties express themselves in the media and online. Many thanks to Ben in Year 11 for helping with the vote count.
