Each half-term our Mill School Bury follow a specific learning theme, this theme is embedded throughout all of the lessons for the children creating a real school community feel.
The theme around school this half term is ‘People and Places’. The Hub have a different book every week focusing on people who help us in our community while The Faculty are completing a project called ‘This is Manchester’. Thery are incorporating the Manchester Bee in to a lot of their work as well as reading Manchester based poems, looking at buildings in Manchester and reading The Boy at the Back of the Class.
The Manchester worker bee is one of the best-known symbols of Manchester and has been an emblem for the city for over 150 years. The bee denotes Mancunians' hard work ethic and the city being a hive of activity. It has also come to represent the sense of unity in our great city.
Sounds like a very interesting theme, great work Mill School!
