The School Council at Wings Notts meet every half term to discuss topical events and the future of the school. Representatives were democratically voted by the student body, and they epitomise the school community values of honesty, responsibility, confidence, and friendship.
A typical meeting would ensure that all representatives act as the voice of all students and the council openly and fairly discusses any school issues with the Senior Leadership Team in school, and, where necessary, vote on action to be taken. Representatives provide leadership and guidance to the school community and play a part in determining policy and future decisions.
Being a member of a Student Council can encourage the development of important career skills such as;
- Communication
- Problem-solving
- Delegating tasks
- Organization
- Teamwork
- Budgeting
- Planning/coordinating events
