Our Arc School Napton has welcomed a new Headteacher.
Jenny Arnold joined the Warwickshire primary school, which supports children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and autism, earlier this year. She began teaching in 2008 and has mainly worked in the primary sector of education.
Becoming a deputy headteacher after five years, Jenny found herself working in a mainstream primary school of 450 pupils which doubled in size during her time there and where she also acted up into the role of Headteacher.
She said: “One part of my role was working closely in supporting looked after and vulnerable children as well as leading safeguarding. Any child with an individualised plan or who were in care, I would work closely with as a Key Worker. I loved working with those children and supporting them.
“I wanted to join Arc School Napton as I knew the role would enable me to support children who also needed that extra help and support, but in a smaller setting. There may be far fewer pupils here at Napton but their needs are the same.
“In mainstream it was sometimes difficult as there were so many children and I could only work with a small number of them, but here we have the opportunity to develop the really important and effective relationships with the children and families which you wouldn’t always get the chance to do in larger settings.
“This setting is perfect for the kind of school environment we want to provide; it’s quiet and peaceful and in a lovely village where we’re at the heart of the community. We can offer children and their families something really exciting; in the Kedleston Group we’re the only school to offer Key Stage 1 provision and my aim is that we are eventually a flagship locally for Early Years and KS1 provision.”
Away from work Jenny is a keen swimmer, loves travel and the great outdoors and is a bit of a film buff too.
