A NOTTINGHAMSHIRE residential school has been praised by inspectors who found children made ‘good progress in all areas of their lives’ and a child describing how the team had helped them ‘follow their dreams’.
Following its most recent inspection by regulator, Ofsted, the care provision at Wings School Nottinghamshire was graded ‘good’ in all areas. There was particular praise for the positive relationship between children and the staff team who support them.
Inspectors noted: “Children say that they are happy and feels safe. One child said that the staff and managers have changed their life. Children are provided with safe and consistent care by a team of adults who are nurturing and respectful towards them. Children have positive and trusting relationships with staff and they feel cared for and supported.”
Staff at the school, the report noted, were ‘excellent role models’ for the young people and help them explore and enjoy a wide range of activities and hobbies. And targeted work with children, inspectors found, was of a high standard. One child said it had “helped them to follow their dreams”.
The school’s approach to meeting the children’s health needs was described as ‘exceptional’ with the report noting: “The approach to children’s physical and emotional health is exceptional and is led by an inspirational and innovative clinical lead, who is the nurse at the home.”
Parental feedback received by inspectors was also very positive with the report stating: “Children are supported to strengthen and maintain relationships with the people who are important to them. A parent said that the home has not only helped the child to make fantastic progress but it has also supported and helped the wider family.”
