The team at our High Peak children’s home in Cheshire are celebrating after being found to provide effective services that meet all the requirements for “Good”.
High Peak is a healthy, happy and safe environment that makes a positive difference. They have high expectations of themselves and their children to reach their true potential. Through a nurturing and therapeutic approach, they enable all the children and young people to leave as successful, valued and independent people.
The specialist setting supports children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, individuals on the autism spectrum and those with ADHD, dyspraxia and dyslexia.
The inspectors could see that ”the children are happy and relaxed in this home. They form strong bonds and trusting relationships with staff.”
The report noted “children are consistently consulted, and their views, wishes and feelings are highly valued in this home. Children are active participants of the weekly children’s meeting and are supported to raise suggestions and requests.”
The safety, health and wellbeing of the children is of utmost importance, with the children commenting “they feel safe in this home.”
Inspectors also found that “children are supported to explore their individual hobbies and interests” and that “children also have access to a range of outdoor facilities, including a golf course, play park, football pitch and indoor sports hall. These facilities are located within the grounds of the home and school.” As a result, the children are all subsequently in “good health.”
