Angela Howe
Deputy Headteacher
Angela Howe is delighted to be joining the fantastic team of staff and pupils, as Deputy Headteacher, at the Arc School, Ansley. Angela has been in post since September 2023. She is passionate about creating and planning for real life opportunities that will make a positive difference for the lives of all the children here at Arc.
Angela’s journey began after her first degree in Psychology, in 2003. She wanted to give back to her community and decided to work, for a short time, at the secondary school she attended as a student. Angela continued to develop and hone her skills working in mainstream for a considerable number of years before wanting to turn her attention to sharing her knowledge and sharpening her skills to support the quality of education for children with special educational needs. Using her experience and skillset, Angela worked at her first SEN school as an Assistant Headteacher working with children 3-19 years old, that had a wide range of special needs. Angela then moved on to her second Assistant Headteacher position at a SEN school for children with autism. Using the pupils EHCP’s Angela designed bespoke behaviour plans for individual pupils that made a significant difference to the life chances of the pupils, making the teaching and learning day consistent and enjoyable.
Angela specialises in the Quality of Education, with her focus and interests in Teaching and Learning, Behaviour and Inclusion. Her 20+ years in education extends across teaching psychology, performing arts curriculum lead, teaching and learning strategies, quality first teaching, curriculum development, writing bespoke individual pupil action plans, metacognition strategies, tracking recording and monitoring impact.
Ms Howe is an experienced senior leader that is proactive, compassionate and committed to keeping children safe, whilst providing a holistic education that supports the needs of all pupils. Her management approach is derived from strategic planning and forward thinking, ensuring that strategies that are embedded are relevant and effective in supporting pupils and the school’s vision and values.
