Mission Statement
Arc School Ansley is dedicated to the provision of outstanding education to children and young people with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition. Many of our young people have experienced significant difficulties in mainstream school as a result of their associated social, emotional and mental health difficulties. We support our children and young people through specialist teaching and intervention including a range of therapeutic supports.
Vision Statement
Our vision is to become a leader in the delivery of education to young people with Autism, so that our children and young people can learn successfully and grow and develop as successful members of their community. Through work with research partners we aim to support the development of a shared understanding of best practice in Autism Education and work with parents and young people to ensure the each is supported as a whole person, with a clear pathway and achievable future goals.
Values
As a school we work with several shared values.
We believe all children and young people are entitled to a nurturing environment that demonstrates care, empathy and support in order to help our young people identify positive aspects of their everyday lives and strategies to develop the areas they find more difficult, such as friendship skills, anxiety and social problem solving. Every day is a new day and children and young people will be met by a staff team who embrace the concept of unconditional positive regard. By doing so we help to develop trusting relationships where everyone feels able to make mistakes in a safe environment, where they will not be met with punitive approaches, but rather the support they need to reflect and move forward.
Our experienced team of staff, supported by our team of therapists are on hand to support not only our children and young people, but also parents, in order to establish a wrap-a-round provision that takes into account all aspects of the young person’s life in order to provide an educational experience that works for them. With this in mind we are able to work with everyone to set aspirational targets, supported by flexible learning that enables children and young people to work towards meaningful qualifications including GCSEs, BTECs, Cambridge Nationals and Functional Skills, as well as developing their life long learning skills, skills for independent living and Cultural Capital.
