Ben came to Wood Grove as part of a long term plan for support him up to 18 years
Ben had a history of requiring physical intervention on a regular basis and, occasionally, daily interventions were taking place.
Wood Grove staff developed a plan to supported Ben with consistent and clear boundaries, offering alternative strategies to him to resolve any issues. His keyworker worked with him to reflect on what had initiated incidents and on what could be done to avoid them in the. As he developed, the need for physical intervention reduced and after 6 months there were no more incidents requiring restraint.
When Ben started at Wood Grove, his attendance at school was sporadic. Staff worked with him and he was soon attending school daily. This was achieved by Wood Grove staff working with the school on a plan that used a reduced timetable at first, working up to full time in an achievable manner.
Staff also worked with Ben on building contacts with his family.
Because there has been a significant decrease in aggression, 100% attendance in education and support in contact with family, Ben has moved on into a foster placement with a family member and he has returned to live with them on a full-time basis.
This reflects an excellent outcome for Ben and the staff at Wood Grove.
