Brookways’s Neurodiversity Week Celebrations:
This week Brookways School took part in Neurodiversity Celebration Week!
Preparation for Neurodiversity Celebration Week started at the beginning of the term in our Class Speech and Language Therapy lessons, where all students have been learning about neurodiversity and the many strengths of having a neurodiverse brain.
This week we had a busy schedule. We kicked off the week with an Assembly focused on Neurodiversity, followed by painting t-shirts to represent Neurodiversity in Life Skills lessons and designing a Neurodiversity Mural for the playground in Art lessons.
However, no celebration would be complete without a party! To conclude our week of celebration, our students and staff joined together for a Silent Disco where we boogied to the Cha-Cha Slide, sang ballads from Hamilton and ate a lot of party food.
We are so proud of our students for their engagement and motivation to learn about all the amazing qualities that come with being neurodiverse.
If you are interested in learning more about Neurodiversity, our Therapy Team has designed booklets about Neurodiversity that are available in Reception. You can also ask our students, who are the experts!
