The most recent leaver from Wood Grove has been a really positive outcome. After living at Wood Grove for 18 months he had one desire which was for him to be able to return home and once more live with his family.
With the support from staff this desire became reality this month, the smile on the face of the young man was a joy to behold when he was informed he had achieved his aim.
The relationship between Wood Grove and the network of support surrounding this young man also played a fundamental role in reaching this positive outcome.
In his time here he was at the home he made such significant progress in managing his emotions, and building his self-esteem.
When he first arrived he couldn't roller skate but with support from staff and the other children in the home this became a weekly activity for him and he was amazing at it ! He was so in his element when we attended here and really found his feet (or wheels!) speeding round the rink. Through this activity he made numerous friends and one significant friendship that will last a long time and who he remains in contact with now.
A fantastic story, and well done to everyone involved.
When young person who lives at Wood Grove arrived at the home he had not engaged in education for about 3 months, he now attends every day and looks forward to school.
At his most recent school review meeting they commented how they would like all the pupils to be like him and he is can be a good role model to others - particularly in his forest schools class where they explore making fires and cooking outdoors.
His behavioural progress has been fantastic and he has grown into such a mature and well-mannered young person, able to reflect on behaviours and emotions.
