At Mill School Bury, we love getting creative in the kitchen, and what better way to warm up a chilly day than with some homemade cheese and bacon pasties? These delicious, flaky pastries are simple to make, packed with flavour, and perfect for lunch, snacks, or even picnics!
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet of ready-rolled puff pastry
- 100g grated cheddar cheese
- 4 rashers of cooked and chopped bacon
- 1 small egg (for egg wash)
- A pinch of black pepper
Method:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C fan)/Gas Mark 6.
- Roll out your puff pastry sheet and cut it into four equal squares.
- Sprinkle some grated cheese onto one half of each square, leaving space around the edges.
- Add the chopped bacon on top of the cheese, and season with a pinch of black pepper.
- Fold the pastry over to create a triangle and press the edges down with a fork to seal.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden, crispy finish.
- Place them on a lined baking tray and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let them cool slightly before enjoying!
Why We Love Them:
These pasties are not only easy to make but also a great way to develop cooking skills and explore different flavour combinations. Plus, they’re a fantastic addition to any lunchbox!
Why not try making them at home and adding your own twist? You could swap the bacon for ham or even add some caramelised onions for extra flavour.
