The school supports children with a wide range of educational and social needs, including those associated with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, attachment disorder, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia and social emotional and mental health difficulties.
The staff team have worked successfully with children who are school phobic and can support young people back into school through an outreach approach and a gradual introduction to the school community. The school is small, nurturing and enabling.
The curriculum is designed to meet the individual needs of each child so they have the opportunity to meet their full potential, in an environment which is both therapeutic and supportive.
Children can enjoy a diverse range of sports as part of the teaching at Napton, including tennis lessons and participate in traditional PE curriculum subjects.
The admission procedure is child centred and takes whatever form is needed to help make the child comfortable.
The school currently has input from a Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist and a team of Educational Psychologists. The focus of any therapeutic support is to help the children to reach their learning potential and give them the best opportunities to develop skills for secondary school.
At Arc School Napton we use Sleuth to analyse and record behaviour and development of our pupils. This software sits alongside our own assessment framework that can measure the progress of our pupils in relation to the essential skills.
