We are thrilled to announce that Wings School Notts has been recognised for our commitment to inclusive physical education and school sport! As a Youth Sport Trust Lead Inclusion School, we have worked tirelessly to create a supportive and engaging environment for all students, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Looked After Children (LAC), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH).
Our dedication has been celebrated with consecutive School Games gold awards, and we are incredibly proud that one of our students, Ellie, has won the Inspirational Inclusive Leader Award at the Youth Sport Trust 2024 Changemaker Awards! This achievement highlights our efforts in championing inclusivity through initiatives such as:
-
Daily well-being sessions to support mental and physical health.
-
Activity-based enrichments to encourage participation.
-
Physical activity for regulation to aid behaviour management.
-
Inclusive leadership programmes empowering students.
Beyond our school, we actively promote inclusive practices through training sessions on neurodiversity, Motor Activity Training Programmes (MATP), sensory circuits, and leadership—reaching over 350 colleagues. Our leadership team also shares our model nationally to inspire positive change in other settings.
This award is a testament to the hard work of our staff, students, and wider community. At Wings School Notts, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and we will continue to lead the way in inclusive education and sport!
