Please note this is a part time role of 2 days per week during school term time and INSET and as required during school closure periods.
Purpose of the Role
The School Counsellor will play a vital role in supporting the emotional, social, and academic development of students at Fernways School, a special school catering to students with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and other complex needs. The position involves working closely with students, parents, and staff to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment that fosters learning, personal growth, and well-being.
Your role will see you facilitate individual and group counselling sessions, develop tailored care plans, deliver workshops to support holistic development and work closely with the wider clinical team to provide comprehensive support to our students.
Qualifications/experience/skills:
- Relevant counselling qualification (min BACP Diploma in Counselling)
- BACP/UKCP registration
- Qualification in an aspect of therapeutic intervention (e.g. music therapy, play therapy, art therapy, CBT, DBT) desirable
- Relevant, recent post-qualification experience of working in a school setting or with children age 11-17 as a practising therapist or counsellor
