We are an independent specialist school providing an engaging educational offer within a supportive or tailored learning environment for children aged 7 -16 with specific or a range of learning needs.
The spacious school environment is bright and welcoming with a variety of different learning spaces which include a science laboratory, specialist teaching rooms, extensive outside grounds, including a football pitch, PE and forest schools area, sensory rooms, quiet rooms, a gym and a pool room.
At Arc School Old Arley there is a particular focus on taking learning outside the classroom into the grounds and community beyond and working in partnership with other organisations such as Arley Woods, through the Forestry Commission to enrich opportunities for children and young people.
Social and emotional development is an integral part of every day school life. Key skills are taught in structured social times and through specific targeted interventions which allow children and young people to build and maintain appropriate friendships. School therapy dogs are used effectively to support all children and young people throughout the day as needed. This may be as part of a reward, during times of crisis and for building trusting relationships. Children and young people are encouraged to take on responsibilities through the Student Council, our football team, school assemblies, charity events, events and fayres, activity clubs and day to day co-regulation.
Clinical support is available to all children and young people as required through Educational Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy Services who work closely with the staff team to embed specialist practice across the school. A Psychotherapist works with our staff team to develop strategies and deliver training allowing for a holistic and nurturing approach within the classroom.
NOTE: We unfortunately don’t have the facilities or environment for learners with primary SEMH needs relating to Conduct Disorders (associated with serious antisocial behaviours that are likely to impact on the safety or learning of others). The school is set in a rural part of Warwickshire within a quiet supportive village community.
