We were delighted to see Silverways' first winner of the Jack Petchey Achievement Scheme, Rion Byqmeti, receive his medal at an award celebration event this week. The medal was presented by The Mayor of Enfield, Councillor Doris Jiagge, as well as officials from the Jack Petchey Foundation.
The Jack Petchey Award Scheme recognises the outstanding achievements of young people and Rion was nominated by his peers as well as staff for reasons including 'always doing the right thing', 'being kind' and 'a good friend ' and 'always trying his very best'. Well done, Rion!
Silverways School is an independent specialist school which supports autistic children who may also have associated learning or communication needs. The school is set in the heart of the community in Enfield, North London.
At Silverways School, they follow the National Curriculum, but the timetable has been designed to be flexible and personalised to meet the different need of the learners.
Many of the children will have missed a great deal of education, so the school develop specific programmes which address their individual needs and developmental stage as well as their specialist interests.
