At Arc School Old Arley, we believe in fostering an inclusive and respectful environment where pupils can learn about different cultures and traditions. This week, our pupils have been engaging in activities to explore the significance of Ramadan—a sacred month observed by Muslims worldwide.
Ramadan is a time of reflection, self-discipline, and community, during which many Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. It is also a time for kindness, generosity, and spiritual growth. To help our pupils develop an understanding of this important period, they have taken part in creative activities, including making Ramadan-themed decorations to display in the school.
As a symbolic gesture, all pupils have been offered a date to try—dates are traditionally eaten to break the daily fast at sunset—as well as an LED tealight, representing the warmth and light that Ramadan brings to many communities.
These activities have provided a wonderful opportunity for discussion, learning, and appreciation of different traditions. We are proud of our pupils for their enthusiasm and respect in engaging with this cultural celebration.
