Our High Peak School is set on the border of Cheshire East and the Peak District and provides specialist primary and secondary education for children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, individuals on the autism spectrum and young people with ADHD, dyspraxia and dyslexia.
We thought we would check in with the fantastic staff team to find out more about what makes the school so special and unique..........first let’s hear from Adam, Upper School Phase Lead.
“I have worked at High Peak School for almost 5 years.
Having worked closely with the young people in our Upper School, it has been a pleasure to see them grow and mature into young adults, many of whom are now thriving in mainstream college placements. Each young person’s journey is slightly different and some transformations may take longer than others, however it is incredibly important to recognise the individual successes of all our young people. Each success leads to a brighter future.
High Peak School is set in a stunning location surrounded by incredible views and wildlife. We are very lucky to be surrounded by acres of land which we can utilise to promote outdoor learning as an alternative to those who may struggle in a typical classroom environment. High Peak always looks for ways of providing a curriculum which meets the interests of our young people. We tailor our enrichment programme to offer extra-curricular activities to support our young people in building new life skills which they can develop as they mature into young adults.
I’ve never worked with a more passionate team than the staff team at High Peak School. This is more than a job to everyone, its clear staff dedicate themselves purely to making High Peak the best school it can be and helping our young people achieve their full potential and thrive. It’s great to work with such a supportive and dedicated group of people.
The young people are also all brilliant, I’m very proud of them all and proud to work at High Peak School!”
