Oakbridge's teaching assistant Loren Fulbrook was keen to help Oakbridge's young people and she reached out to Halfords. Lauren had previously worked at Halfords prior to joining Oakbridge in January this year.
Her email turned into two bikes being donated by Halfords. Lauren plans to add a Bike Club to Wednesday afternoons. She said ' I'll be able to teach our young people how to repair a puncture and refit a chain'
Halfords' representatives came to the school to hand over the bikes. Oakridge pupils O and E were happy to be part of the handover.
O has her own bike at home and is keen to get rid of her stabilizers. E is interested in all things mechanical and is looking forward to understanding the derailleur gears.
Head Teacher Phil Petch said 'The bikes will be a great way for our young people to gain new skills and build their self-confidence'
Edie the dog checked over the new bikes.
Halfords' head office is in Redditch and their web content team is keen to keep in touch with Oakbridge.
