Mill School Bury Walks for a Cause: Raising Over £1,000 for Autism Dogs
Mill School Bury has proudly raised over £1,000 in support of Autism Dogs by participating in the "Pawsome 50 Miles for £50K Challenge." Inspired by student Riley Ross and his assistance dog, Nimbus, the challenge saw students, staff, and families come together for a meaningful cause.
Nimbus, trained by Autism Dogs, has been life-changing for Riley, providing him with the support and confidence to attend school every day. Riley's mum, Adele, shared, "Without Nimbus, Riley simply wouldn’t be able to attend school. The impact of both the charity and Mill School Bury on our lives has been immeasurable."
The school organized a sponsored countryside walk, alongside fun activities including visits from the local fire service and police. Contributions from across the Kedleston Group helped the school surpass its original target of £200, raising an incredible £1,092.
Headteacher Deb Morley said, "We have seen firsthand the impact a specially trained assistance dog like Nimbus can have. We’re thrilled that our community’s efforts will help fund the training of another assistance dog."
Fundraising for Autism Dogs continues throughout March. To support this incredible cause, donations can be made here: JustGiving - Mill School.
We are so proud of our school community for stepping up and making a difference!
