Children’s Mental Health Week has been running nationally this week, set up to help make a difference to the lives of children and young people across the UK.
Our Silverways School in Enfield held a special assembly to start conversations and reflections about the topic, mental health.
They were put in teams and given a task to complete, which unknowingly to them was actually unachievable! After trying several times, they all were left feeling a little bit confused, frustrated and unsure what to do next because the task was impossible. This was the very point of the task, to help the children understand how challenges with our mental health can also bring about these feelings…confusion, frustration and feeling like a situation is impossible.
They then moved on to talk about removing the stigma from feeling like this, and how they might seek support and guidance. Everyone received a mental health awareness ‘goodie bag’ with resources for the future.
Great work Silverways.
