*Delia came to High Peak in 2017 as a residential placement. Since then the staff have been working with her to overcome her learning difficulties and low self-esteem.  She has recently had a new social worker allocated to her.  Following a recent meeting, her social worker gave the following feedback;

‘I have only been allocated to Delia as her Social Worker for a month or so. In this short time, I have been impressed by the education she receives.

I have been impressed by the quality of training the staff have, the clear lines of communication and planning between the psychology and education staff teams. The staff clearly understand Delia very well and have her best interests at heart. The school clearly understand Delia’s complex needs in terms of her social and emotional health and the consequent barriers these bring to her achieving academically.

There is impressive wrap-around support of therapy, work experience at a local school and employment in the school cafe!  Delia believes, feels and says she cannot achieve in many respects however the opportunities at the school ensure she does! For example, Delia said she could not do her English work and wasn't completing homework but she now has her level 2 functional skills.  The school has ensured she achieves with their well-planned, coordinated and nurturing approach.

Delia is of an age where we have to start planning for life after the care system and this causes her to worry. However, the head teacher demonstrates what Delia’s needs are now, what she needs from health, education and social care to plan for the future and what a plan for Delia could look like based on her strengths and weaknesses.  This is excellent that the school staff think so much about her future and want the very best for her.  It is a pleasure to work with and learn from the school.’

High Peak's Principal, Anne Price said ' It's gratifying to get such marvelous feedback and that Delia is making such good progress. The clinical, teaching and care staff continually work with all our young people to get the best outcomes possible.'
