Last week, the children and young people at Arc School Ansley took part in a First Aid course facilitated by Saint John’s Ambulance.

Within the course, the children and young people were introduced to the use of DRABC (Danger, Response, Airways, Breathing and Circulation), how to deliver CPR, what to do when faced with cuts, bleeds and breaks and how/when to use the recovery position.

The children and young people were a credit to the school, asking mature questions and giving fantastic answers throughout. Each child was awarded a certificate in assembly for their hard work and should be proud. The Course doubled up as part of their DofE Bronze Award and also their PSHE qualification.

Arc School Ansley welcome the opportunity to work with children and young people towards their individual goals, aspirations and develop as successful members of their community. Those who go to the school have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition and often many associated social, emotional and mental health needs.

What a brilliant opportunity and vital information to learn. We hope no one has to use these new found skills, however, if faced with a challenging situation everyone will certainly know what do to help!
