Andrew* had previously been a reluctant learner and had refused to engage in education for three months.
When he came to Wood Grove he struggled to regulate and express emotions in an appropriate way and as a result, experienced behaviours which could be challenging to those around him.
However, with intensive support and therapeutic engagement from the team at Wood Grove, building positive relationships and individualised care planning, Andrew has been encouraged to re-engage with his learning. He now attends every day and looks forward to school.
At his most recent school review, the school commented on how they would like all the pupils to be like him and described Andrew as “a good role model” to other children.
His behaviour progress has been immense and Andrew has grown into a mature and well-mannered young person and is able to reflect on behaviours and emotions.
Such has been his success, Andrew is now preparing to return home.
