Mill School Bury have embarked on an exciting cross-curricular journey between Geography and Food Tech this week. This unique educational experience was designed to broaden their horizons by delving into global food levels, sustainability, foods of the future, and nutrition. Along the way, students even had the opportunity to challenge their palates with a daring taste test featuring unconventional snacks, including teriyaki crickets and lightly salted mealworms.
Unsurprisingly, these exotic delicacies didn't appeal to everyone's taste buds, but the experience sparked intriguing conversations about alternative protein sources, sustainability, and the future of food.
Jude Fair-Lawton, the Humanities Lead at Mill School Bury, expressed their enthusiasm for the cross-curricular approach: "This initiative not only enriches our students' understanding of the world but also encourages them to think critically about their own dietary choices.”
The school offers a calm and nurturing environment for autistic children and those with additional associated needs.
